Gibson Chu

The Daily Californian

Positions:

  • General Reporter

  • Beat Reporter, Crime and Courts

  • Beat Reporter, City Government

  • Editor, Weekend Edition

Originally when I went to college, I planned to be a journalist, studying political science and writing about issues facing the local community. I spent much of my time interviewing folks, reporting on at least 3 weekly pieces (100+) and many long-form investigative features. I spent time at rallies, city council meetings, and court sessions, talking with folks from all over from innovations in science and technology to immigration reform, from new restaurant openings to fire outbreaks.

I also edited the Weekend Edition of the paper, collecting short stories, poems, and interesting think pieces from the local populace.

Below are a collection of pieces:

  • Police Feature, Andrew Greenwood

  • Police Violence and Courts, Kayla Moore Lawsuit and Death

  • Local Politics, Ballot Measure Y1

  • New Technology, Transistors

  • Obituary, Jenny Morris

  • Political Rally, "Alt-Right Protest"

  • Fun Romance Article
